Labour hire

FOR LABOUR HIRE

Payroll goes out every week. Your clients pay in 30 to 45 days.

Wages and super leave the account every pay run. The money for that work arrives a month or more later. We look at your payroll, your clients and your growth, then find funding that is set up around that gap.

✓

Funding that follows your invoices and payroll

✓

SOUND FAMILIAR?

Wages go out before the money comes in.

  • Every Thursday is payday. Clients pay on 30 to 45 day terms, or later.

  • Payday Super is here. From 1 July 2026, super is due within 7 business days of each payday, not quarterly.

  • The new contract is a cash problem. More workers on site means a bigger payroll weeks before the bigger invoices are paid.

  • One slow payer wrecks the week. A single late client can push wages onto the overdraft or the credit card.

  • Some lenders won’t fund labour hire. Plenty of lenders exclude labour hire or want two years of trading. Knowing which ones will look at it saves wasted applications.

  • One client is most of your book. When one big client makes up most of your invoices, many facilities cap how much they will fund against them.

WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE

A growing crew, a bigger gap

Illustrative scenario

A labour hire business wins a second site with a large builder on 45 day terms. Headcount doubles in a month, and so does the weekly payroll. Rather than stretching the overdraft, the owner talks through funding against the new client’s invoices, sized around the new payroll and set up before the first shift starts. Illustrative example only, not a real client. Every business is assessed on its own circumstances and lender criteria.

QUESTIONS

Common questions

How does payroll funding for labour hire work?

A lender advances money against invoices you have issued to your clients, so you are not waiting 30 to 45 days to cover wages and super. Your broker explains how the facility, the limits and the costs work for your client mix.

What does Payday Super change for us?

From 1 July 2026, employers must pay super within 7 business days of each payday instead of quarterly. That means more cash leaving the business each week, which can widen the gap between wages and client payments.

What do I need to have ready?

Usually your ABN, an aged debtors list or recent invoices, recent business account statements, your labour hire licence details if you need one, and ID for the directors. Your broker confirms the list.

Some lenders said no because we’re labour hire. Why?

Some lenders treat labour hire as higher risk and exclude it, or ask for a longer trading history. Others work with it every day. We go to lenders whose criteria fit your business.

Most of our work is with one client. Is that a problem?

It can be. Many invoice facilities limit how much they fund against any one client. Some lenders are more comfortable with that than others, so we check before you apply.

Does our labour hire licence matter?

In Queensland, labour hire providers need a licence, and lenders will usually ask for it. Have your licence and insurance details ready.

What does it cost and how do you get paid?

Costs depend on the lender, the product and your business. Your broker explains every fee and cost before you decide. We may be paid a commission by the lender or charge a fee, and we tell you before you apply. Subject to lender approval; fees and terms apply.

Tell us what’s going on.

A short call is usually enough to see whether funding could help now, and how it could be set up for what comes next. No obligation. Business purposes only. Subject to lender approval; fees and terms apply.
